KZA Kitazawa, the Yakuza of Cool
View this post on Instagram
Ikuzumi Kitazawa, DJ name KZA is somewhat of a digger. That is, a guy who travels the world over looking for rare disks to incorporate into his mixes. When listening to his two albums ‘Dig and Edit’ and ‘Dig and Edit 2’ it’s possible to pick out French pop, disco, soul and electro. KZA is capable of mixing Gainsbourg tunes with German electro, and at the moment that you least expect it, he’ll drop a disco beat for good measure.
A genius manipulator of music, KZA takes from whatever sounds good, all the while cultivating an impressive discretion. His second album opens with an incredible sample entitled Vous Dancez, an immersive audioscape that is instantly evocative of summer.
