Mame Kurogouchi, the Japanese Brand Blending Craftsmanship and Technical Design

Despite still being relatively unknown in the fashion world, Mame Kurogouchi is the second-largest luxury Japanese brand. Created in 2010 by Maiko Kurogouchi, who cut her teeth at Issey Miyake, it incarnates femininity and daring through shapes which combine timeless design and traditional craftsmanship.
Last September, this Japanese designer presented her new ready-to-wear collection in Paris. It was a great opportunity to get a closer look at her ultra-technical garments and her remarkable attention to detail. She even had to ask surgeons to help her with some of her creations, namely her PVC bags which represent her signature piece.
Behind each garment lies a personal story, memories of childhood or voyages, Maiko Kurogouchi explains. She then translates her experience into fabric and everything is assembled by the best manufacturers and artisans in the country.
Mame Kurogouchi represents an attitude and a desire to combine femininity and fashion with art, culture and tradition.
