The Four Leaves Villa, The House That Mirrors Nature

Located in the heart of the Karuizawa forest in Japan, the Four Leaves Villa blends into the landscape, thanks to its unique silhouette, reminiscent of a stack of tree leaves.
Designed by architecture studio Kias (Kentaro Ishida Architects Studio), this holiday home is just an hour away from Tokyo, in Shinkansen, at the foot of Mount Asama volcano. It offers its guests a peaceful environment that respects nature while also being directly inspired by its aesthetic. The 225 square-metre structure consists of three distinct segments, each an individual room. These intertwine and pile up to form a single villa which, seen from the sky, looks like four tree leaves assembled by the wind.
According to a carefully conceived-of architectural system, the orientation of each room is placed in an optimal position. The living & dining room faces southeast to capture the daylight, while the west-facing rooms overlook the forest and offer a more intimate atmosphere. These choices are mirrored by the delicate décor choices with wood and white colour schemes which highlight the sense of serenity of the space.
