Yumi Nakamura, Copper Kettle Expert

© Yumi Nakamura
Born in Saitama prefecture in 1981, Yumi Nakamura strongly believes that objects should be both stylish and functional. She uses the hammering technique, marking each of her creations with her own personality. Her kettles, made from a single piece of metal that has been expertly manipulated, never fail to catch the eye. There is something seductive about the elegance of their finish: wooden handles and side handles or ingenious pouring spouts.
Nakamura first experimented with cutlery before moving on to larger pieces, gracefully accepting the technical challenges that come with making metal kettles by hand. She attributes her penchant for copper to its warm appearance, antibacterial properties and its capacity to make tea taste richer.
Each piece is unique, just like its creator.
