Slowing Down with an Exceptional Tea at Satén Japanese Tea

A shop where a person can casually enjoy a variety of Japanese teas has opened in Nishi-Ogikubo: Satén Japanese Tea. Japanese green tea, matcha (used in tea ceremony), and roasted hojicha are available for take-out or to enjoy in the shop. ‘Matcha latté’ is highly recommended. In order to accentuate the savoriness of matcha, the beverage relies on the natural sweetness of milk pasteurized at low temperature, without adding sugar. Another strength is that the tea leaves used for matcha and the other Japanese teas, such as green tea and roasted hojicha, all have a single source (tea plantation).
Surrounded by large windows, the shop has a sense of spaciousness swept by gentle breezes. Upon entering the shop, one sees a space for enjoying Japanese teas, with seats facing the street and a counter lined with washi, beyond which is a retro café space redolent of Northern Europe, with soft green walls and velour chairs, creating a fascinating atmospheric separation. Located close to the JR Nishi-Ogikubo Station, the café is a perfect place to visit before or after commuting, or anytime one wants a respite during the day.
