Hakone, a Pocket of Peace and Quiet Just Two Hours from Tokyo

© Kanagawa Prefectural Tourist Association
From Tokyo, to Hakone, in the National Park of Fuji-Hakone-Izu, the frenetic rhythm of the capital feels a million miles away. Bursting with lakes and mountains, Hakone radiates tranquility, and yet it is only two hours away from Japan’s capital city.
It may be calm and quiet, but you won’t be short of things to do, with natural hot water springs (onsen), mountainous landscapes leading towards mount Fuji, lake cruises along the Ashi, cable car rides and a panoramic train ride that has existed for almost 100 years. The choice is yours.
