Adult Oriented Records, a Record Shop by Creative People

The world of vinyl records steadily attracts people’s notice. Not only audiophiles, but anyone who is simply curious can find their curiosity satisfied in at ‘Adult Oriented Records’.
The pop décor is inviting, but drawer after drawer full of recordings specially selected by celebrities is what really catches the eye. The selectors, called ‘music providers’, include FPM (‘Fantastic Plastic Machine’) Tomoyuki Tanaka, the model and DJ Yuka Mizuhara, Shohei Takagi of indie band Cero, and Ken’ichi Aono of Beams Records, each one a rising star in his own right.
The person who pulled this together is Takumi Yuge, the boutique’s owner. Yuge, a fashion designer who has his own brand, ‘Yuge’, has ventured into music not only as a DJ, but also by designing jacket art for albums of music by Asako Toki, Hitomitoi, and others. The name of the boutique was inspired by the musical genre known as adult oriented rock (AOR), but ultimately is not defined by genre—Yuge speaks of his willingness to handle any music that appeals to adult tastes.
Timed with opening the boutique, he launched a record label, selling out all copies on the first day that the store was opened. Sound like a trendsetter? Always check store hours before visiting.
