Hakone Honbako, Japan’s Book Hotel

Hotel Hakone Honbako is equipped with wall to wall bookshelves full to the rafters. Here relaxation and reading are at the top of the agenda. Open since spring 2018, Hakone Honkabo gives the visitors every excuse to unplug.
Created by the company Ashikari, this new spot, already nicknamed the ‘book hotel’, also hosts a restaurant, a book shop, a café, as well as a coworking space. Each room is furnished with a library and a small reading room with its own selection of original titles.
Once the collection is complete, there will be over 20,000 spread across the floors of this unique space. All of them will be for sale, providing you the opportunity to take home the perfect souvenir.
